Via Ikla
Via Ikla is a pleasant stopover for motorists. It is located on the Estonia–Latvia border in Ikla, along the Via Baltica highway, in the former Estonian Border Guard building.
We have been operating here since 2005. After Estonia joined the European Union and border controls were removed at the EU’s internal borders, the Estonian Border Guard no longer needed such a large building. However, the removal of border controls did not eliminate the need for a convenient stopover and related services.
We offer a comfortable place for both short breaks and longer rest stops. Our facilities include a car park, shop, hostel and an outdoor seating area. Our bistro serves food around the clock. Guests can also use a shower, enjoy a traditional hot sauna or wash and dry their clothes using our washer-dryer.

Are you looking for a quick snack, a hearty meal, a cup of aromatic coffee or a refreshing drink? You can find all of this at the Via Ikla bistro, open 24 hours a day.
Our menu offers simple and delicious food for every taste, including soups, main courses and desserts. We also have a separate menu for those who prefer a quick bite, with hamburgers, hot dogs, wraps and sandwiches.
Excellent baked goods are prepared on site every day. Naturally, we also serve hot drinks and a wide selection of refreshing cold beverages. Everything can be enjoyed on the premises or ordered to take away.
The bistro can accommodate up to 120 people. Groups of 15 people or more can pre-order meals from our special group menu.
Our baker and pastry chef also prepares a variety of baked goods and desserts to order, including braided sweet breads, pastries, celebration cakes, cakes, biscuits and much more.

The Via Ikla shop offers practically everything a traveller may need during a journey or when arriving home late at night. You will find a variety of everyday essentials, a wide selection of soft drinks, alcoholic beverages and snacks. Naturally, we also stock ice cream and a range of sweet treats. When leaving Estonia, Via Ikla is the last place where you can pick up something traditionally Estonian before crossing the border. Our selection includes souvenirs, handmade products created by Estonian craftspeople, Kalev sweets, Kõlleste Kommimeistrid handmade chocolate, and socks, stockings and knee-high socks from Suva’s ETNO collection. Our small shop also offers products from Estonian beverage manufacturers, including A. Le Coq, Saku, Liviko and many others.
parking
Via Ikla has a large car park suitable for heavy vehicles, including lorries and tour buses, as well as motorhomes and passenger cars.
Parking is free for up to one hour. Longer stays are subject to a fee, which can be paid conveniently at the parking machine near the main entrance using either a bank card or cash. Contract customers can pay for parking by invoice.
Guests may also use the hostel’s shower facilities for €2 per visit or the washer-dryer for €4 per load.
electric vehicle charging point
Via Ikla has a fast-charging station for electric vehicles that is available 24 hours a day. The maximum charging capacity is up to 150 kW. To begin charging, follow the instructions displayed on the charger screen and select the charging connector suitable for your vehicle. While your car is charging, you can enjoy a relaxing break in our bistro or shop. Have a warm meal, pick up a freshly made coffee or stock up on everything you need for the road. You can rest and recharge while your car gathers energy for the next stage of your journey.
ATM
A Euronet cash machine is located next to the Via Ikla building, allowing you to withdraw cash conveniently. The ATM is outdoors in a clearly visible and easily accessible location and is available 24 hours a day. This allows you to take care of your cash needs during the same stop.
hostel
Would you like to stay with us for longer and get some rest before continuing your journey refreshed in the morning? The small and comfortable Via Ikla hostel is an excellent choice. It has five double rooms, a separate kitchenette, a shower and a toilet. For a small additional fee, guests can use the washer-dryer. Shower facilities are also available. Breakfast is included in the accommodation price for hostel guests.
heavy vehicle road toll
The Estonian road toll can be paid at the Via Ikla bistro counter 24 hours a day. For a small service fee, our customer service representative can help calculate and register the correct toll for your vehicle. Under Estonian law, since 1 January 2018, a road user charge must be paid for all lorries weighing more than 3.5 tonnes that use Estonia’s public road network.
restrooms
Restrooms facilities are available at the Via Ikla complex. The restrooms are clean and comfortable and offer a convenient place to freshen up during your journey. A separate accessible toilet is available for people with disabilities, and there is also a baby changing table. Guests may use the hostel’s shower facilities for €2 per visit or the washer-dryer for €4 per load. A traditional hot sauna is also located in the hostel building.
WiFI
Free Wi-Fi is available in the Via Ikla bistro. If you are arriving in Estonia for a longer stay and would like to use a local mobile phone or internet service, you can purchase SIM cards from various service providers in the Via Ikla shop. Prepaid top-up cards are available for all major Estonian mobile operators: Telia, Tele2 and Elisa.
